Respire Haiti desires not only to encourage, educate and empower children but to also support the community. A few of the ways in which Respire supports the community is through a local focus, microloans and adult education.
As much as possible, Respire employs local workers and purchases local products from local vendors. Currently, Respire employs over 100 nationals in roles such as teaching, construction, security, administration and support, as well as in the café
The microloan program has enabled several local entrepreneurs to start their own businesses. Applicants must complete an application and interview to be considered for the program. If an applicant is approved, the budding entrepreneur is provided with guidance, a microloan, and a loan pay back plan to get started. The program has provided support for a:
Respire Café and Boutique is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The café not only provides jobs for the community, but also generates income for the school. The café also serves as a resource for visiting mission teams who often purchase their meals and drinks there. The café serves homemade cinnamon rolls, fresh juice, Haitian Coffee (iced and hot), egg sandwiches, bottled water, sports drinks, and more! Additionally, the boutique contains products from Second Story Goods as well as other locally created artisan products! Please stop by and help support Respire Haiti Christian School!
