We are excited to share with you our Final Plans for the Respire Haiti Therapy Center. We began raising funds back in 2015 unsure of what exactly the Therapy Center would look like. Now, after months of praying, brainstorming, planning and editing, we have finalized the design of the building.
After outgrowing the current space that our Therapy Programs are utilizing, we recognized the need for more space and privacy for the members of the community and children that we are serving. Our Physical and Occupational Therapy Program is now capped because there is a limit on the growth that can occur where it is currently located. Equipment is in hallways, storage closets and bathrooms as there is no more available space but yet the need for the equipment is present and the waiting list of children needing services continues to grow.
Our Mental Health Program is currently completing counseling sessions in public areas which limits effectiveness and prevents individuals from feeling safe to share and discuss situations. Currently, our counselors are working part-time due to limited available space. The need for these employees to work full-time is large; because the need for mental health counseling, specifically grief, trauma and identifying/expressing emotions, is significant both in Respire Haiti Christian School and our community.
With more space, we will be able to hire more Haitian Staff and we will be able to serve more children and members of the community. On October 18, 2016, we broke ground on our 6,500 square foot Therapy Center.
We have raised nearly 30% of the entire cost for the building and have $291,800 more to raise. ALL donations large or small help us! If you are interested in supporting our Mental Health Programs and our Physical and Occupational Therapy Programs please donate here. Thank you for believing in what God is doing through Respire Haiti on Bellevue Mountain. We know this is an incredible need for our community and are trusting God to provide for the vision He has given us.
